Stories you watch the way you read —
one piece at a time.
The Mosaic Way Films brings the Mosaic Way™ to the screen: primarily visual, almost-wordless cinema about the inner lives we rarely show each other — and the single picture they make together.
Filmmakers worldwide: send us 3–5 minutes from your corner of the world.
The Mosaic Way
The film opens where the book begins: a sculptor, working through the night, brings a stone woman to life — one half serene carved marble, the other blooming into living mosaic, an eye set among the tiles. We fall into his eyes, and out through a stranger's.
From there the camera rarely stops. A woman counting her own minutes. A man walking out of a marriage. An old man eating alone. A child who sees straight through it all — each certain they're alone with what they carry. It's almost wordless: carried on faces, light, and sound, with only the quiet inner thoughts people never say out loud.
Then we step all the way back — and her evolving face resolves into something none of them could see from inside their own. It's made of every one of them. It always was.
- Almost wordless
- Image and sound first — sparse inner voices, never speeches.
- Travels far
- Little spoken dialogue, so it crosses languages with ease.
- One picture
- A film whose form is its meaning — evolution, made visible.

Dr. Karissa Thomas
Dr. Karissa Thomas has always worked in the experimental — drawn from the start to the subconscious and the inner life. Her early work says it plainly: The Fear of the Subconscious, the experimental short that earned a Gold Medal at NAACP ACT-SO and a place at the national competition, and Subliminal Chance, recognized in an HBO writing competition.
A SUNY Purchase–trained filmmaker and Jay Sanders honoree, she directed actors early in their careers who have since gone on to Broadway, network television, and primetime drama. She stepped away to focus on the message at the heart of the work — which became a body of award-winning books and the Mosaic Intelligence Method™ — and now returns to her lifelong subject, the inner world, with The Mosaic Way.
